Counting is underway for 81 municipal bodies in West Bengal.
Trinamool Congress is leading in Kolkata.
Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that she is 'confident' of her party's victory in the civic polls.
The polls, seen as a semi-final before the 2011 Assembly elections, were held in 81 civic bodies and in the 141-ward Kolkata Municipal Corporation involving an electorate of 85 lakh.
The way the people's will was stamped on the 2009 Lok Sabha poll scoreline was a lesson for the ruling Left Front.
Even Trinamool did not expect such a big leap in spite of the Left downslide in the 2008 panchayat polls.
